When flood season hits the Missouri River, those of us that work on the river find ourselves obsessively checking the forecasts put out by the Missouri River Basin Forecast Center in Pleasant Hill. Many of us have wondered...how do they do that?

Kevin Low will be explaining this complicated task, and giving a broad view of the Missouri River watershed in the process.

Kevin will also be demonstrating the Floodplain Simulator model used as an outreach tool for elementary and middle school-aged students. He will focus on the Missouri River Flood of 2011 as his model in discussion.

From Kansas City, Kansas:

• Take I-70 into Missouri.
  
• Take exit 2C to merge onto US-169 N/W 6th St toward Broadway/Downtown. Continue to follow W 6th St
• Turn left onto Wyandotte St.
• Turn right onto W 3rd St. Proceed 1 block - The Farmhouse Restaurant will be on your right on the southwest corner of 3rd & Delaware.

From the East:

• Take I-70 into downtown Kansas City.
  
• Take exit 2D toward Main-Delaware/Wyandotte St.
• Merge onto W Independence Ave.
• Turn right onto Wyandotte St
• Take the 3rd right onto W 3rd St. Proceed 1 block - The Farmhouse Restaurant will be on your right on the southwest corner of 3rd & Delaware.
  
  Parking is available on the street or in a free lot 1/2 block west.
