Marideth Sisco was cast in a singing role in the movie, “Winter’s Bone,” which took top honors at the Sundance Film Festival and received four nominations for an Academy Award. She is the author of a recent book, Crosspatch: Cranky Musings on Gardening in Rocky Ground. Cathy Barton and Dave Para were instrumental in the creation of the Big Muddy Folk Festival in Boonville, an event now in its 25th year. Barton is a master of the old-time “frailing” style banjo. Barton and Para live in Boonville and have toured internationally, bringing their knowledge of Missouri to people all over the world. They have conducted many workshops on songs from the Civil War, river lore, gospel and Ozark ballads. For this program, they have created a repertoire of traditional music that reflects the history of the Missouri River.
