Missouri River Relief is excited to offer a very special summer camp for students aged 12-18 getting up close and personal with the Big Muddy.  It's called "Big River Experience" and it's part of the "Summers @ Mizzou" summer camp hosted by MU Extension and the 4-H Center for Youth Development.  There are 30 slots available, first come first serve.

Big River Experience

Students will learn about the ecology, history, and biology of aquatic life in this large river ecosystem from experts in the field.  Learn how biologists study the fish that swim the muddy depths, how to analyze water quality as part of the Stream Team Program, how scientists track migrating birds, and how conservationists manage floodplains and wetlands.  If river conditions allow, participants will explore the Missouri River by boat, helping Missouri River Relief clean up trash from the river banks and floodplains.

Students will be staying in university dorms and attending four days of workshops, river excursions and service learning projects.

Early registration deadline is May 7, 2015.  Final registration deadline is June 1, 2015 for non-commuters.  There is another deadline of June 30th for commuter campers (those that live in Columbia and will not be staying on campus).  To find out more about Summers@Mizzou or to register your child, visit Summers @ Mizzou on the web or call 573/882-8320.
