Come see a special showing of the feature length film documenting the first descent of the Amazon River from its most distant source in 2012. This will be followed by a question and answer session with the expedition’s leader West Hansen. With sponsorship from National Geographic, the Amazon Express team negotiated significant whitewater challenges in the upper headwaters and then transitioned to paddle down waters that develop into the largest river on earth. West is known to many of us as an Icon of the Missouri River 340 ultramarathon canoe and kayak race scene. He has set records in just about every division and even paddled the inaugural race 10 years ago. In addition, he holds multi-division records in the grueling 260 mile Texas Water Safari and as if this all were not enough, he has now set his sights on paddling some of the longest rivers on earth.
Case in point, he just recently returned from the first full decent of the longest river in Europe; the Volga. This expedition had them paddling in the heart of Russia just as the drama that is now stirring memories of the cold war period was developing. West is donating his time for this fundraising event, so don’t miss this unique opportunity to spend time with a legend, who is also a very down to earth and approachable guy.
Tickets are $18 (15 and under FREE with paid family member). Purchase tickets ONLINE here.
